Claude Code is the first runtime, not the boundary.

fortytwo wraps a coding-agent runtime through a thin adapter. It makes no attempt to be the agent.

One runtime, said plainly.

Claude Code is the first supported runtime. More can follow. No other runtime is supported today, and nothing here should read as if it were.

Runtime support today
RuntimeStatusNotes
Claude CodeSUPPORTEDThe reference runtime. The adapter starts one-shot jobs and persistent streaming sessions, and resumes them by session ID.
Other coding agentsNOT SUPPORTEDNot supported. The adapter is kept thin so another could be written; none ships today.

The adapter forwards environment and arguments to Claude Code, so a Claude Code you have pointed at a compatible provider keeps working. fortytwo makes no model decisions.

What stays with the runtime.

Tools, MCP servers, plugins and skills belong to the runtime’s ecosystem. When the agent gets better at them, the assistant does too.

  • reasoning, planning and subagents
  • native tools and their effective permissions
  • MCP servers
  • plugins and skills
  • browser and computer use
  • model and provider choice

fortytwo does not rebuild integrations just because an assistant would find them useful. If the runtime’s ecosystem has an MCP server or plugin for it, that is where it belongs.

What the adapter asks of a runtime.

The adapter owns process and session lifecycle and stream transport, nothing about the agent itself. These are the Claude Code features it relies on today.

A headless, streaming mode
Claude Code stream-json sessions, plus one-shot runs.
Resumable sessions
Resume by session ID after a restart. IDs are recovery hints, not a transaction log.
MCP servers
Memory is wired in through the project’s .mcp.json.
Project context files
Identity is rendered into CLAUDE.md and context files.

Working, and where it stops.

Each line below was checked against the package’s own README.

  • WORKS TODAY

    Persistent agent sessions

A long-lived Claude Code session per chat, resumable by session ID, run through the runner.

  • WORKS TODAY

    Telegram channel with continuity

Locked-down bot, one-time-code pairing, live sessions that resume after a restart.

  • WORKS TODAY

    Durable semantic memory

Store and recall by meaning, keyword or filter, with provenance and supersession.

  • WORKS TODAY

    Scheduler and proactive jobs

A durable job queue and daemon that wakes the agent only when there is work.

  • WORKS TODAY

    Persona and Oneiros

Identity scaffolding in plain files, and a daily tool-free pass that adds evidence-backed notes to three profile sections.

  • WORKS TODAY

    Lifecycle CLI

init, start, status, stop, pair, doctor, update, rollback, forget and unbind.

  • OPTIONAL

    Gate

An optional PreToolUse policy hook. Wire it in if you want one; the runtime’s own permissions apply either way.

  • KNOWN EDGE

    One runtime, one channel

Claude Code is the only supported runtime and Telegram the only channel. The channel contract is adapter-shaped; no other adapter ships.

  • KNOWN EDGE

    1.0 pre-release

Packages are pre-release. Crash recovery is best effort: no input replay, and recovery IDs are hints.
